Match Report
Turloughmore 1-16 Loughrea 2-7
Turloughmore are through to their first Minor Final since 2007 after a great victory over a fancied Loughrea team on Saturday evening. It is a great achievement for this team considering the majority of players are under age again next year. Shane Burke opened the scoring with a fine point. Richard Doyle followed with 2 points, 1 free and 1 penalty, before Michael Morris scored a fantastic goal, catching the ball over his man, turning, and kicking the ball to the net. In the 2nd quarter, Loughrea got themselves right back into it however, scoring a fortuitous goal against the run of play. Turlough responded with a Damian Holland point after making a great catch over the County Minor centre back Sean Sweeney. Conor Shaughnessy added the final score of the half with a free..
Half time score: Turloughmore 1-5 Loughrea 1-3.
Turloughmore dominated the second half, with Conor Shaughnessy more involved, Jamie Holland reading the game superbly at centre back, and Richard Doyle picking up a lot of breaks around the middle of the field, Loughrea simply could not compete.
Ultan Hurney also played brilliantly, switching from his usual position in the forwards to corner back to mark Jamie Ryan one of Loughrea's best players. Overall it was another great team performance and we look forward to seeing them in action again in the final.
