Chairmans Address 07-06-2018
Hi Everyone

Hard to believe we are into month 6 of 2018 . Summer sun has blessed us over
the last two weeks and pitches all over have dried . Thus real fast hurling is
upon us and the Senior Championship is in full flow. Galway look good with
three from three . Its with great pride we can say we have six players from
Turloughmore on Galway panels. Daithi and Ronan Burke , Sean Loftus and
Sean Linnane on Senior panels, and Marc Fahy and Daniel Loftus on U21
panels. We wish all of them the very best of luck as we progress through the
summer and can be proud as a club we have such representation with such
fine young men.
Our Senior team have won two from two and wait now until September for
resumption of the club championship. This team deserve and need all our club
support. True supporters of Turloughmore always will.
Our U21 teams 2017 and 2018 are still in the championship and we have been
promised by County Board Chairman both competitions will progress in late
August and through the Autumn, Indeed our 2017 U21 team are in a quarter
final against Athenry .
Our minor team have had mixed fortunes but are still in the championship.
We wish all of them studying for the leaving cert the very best of luck in the
coming weeks and look forward to having them back on the fields once
complete. They are all well grounded and will do fine and a credit to the club
and their families.
Junior A and C are on cusp of beginning their championship charge. We wish
them the very best on their endeavours.
Juvenile competitions are underway but without doubt our u14 team are
blazing a trail that needs mentioning. Winning the Galway Feile and winning
the u14 County Championship, has them the king- pins of Galway at this level.
Indeed with Feile in Connacht next weekend I encourage all Turloughmore
members to come out in support of our Champions on Friday evening June 8 th .
Turloughmore are in the same group as Castlegar, Monaleen from Limerick
and favourites Lucan Sarsfields from Dublin. Our pitch is in excellent condition
and a major credit and thank you to all who have supported and helped in
getting it ready for this fantastic competition. Our scoreboard has got many
compliments and now our pitch is supplied with power, water for future

Year to date we have had some major achievements as fund raisers. Car wash,
golf outing, and weekly bingo come to mind, in fact Bingo has just celebrated
25 years. I would like to thank all who supported in any way and hope we can
repay with more club success as we progress through Summer and Autumn. I
appeal to all members to support all projects and if something interests you to
support please contact the executive members or myself as chairman. We are
considering a club auction in early October which you may be able to support.
More to come on this.

Our club is thriving and we have major plans to unveil in next six weeks which
will need your support. Our club and more particularly our youth need us to
look to the future and to ensure we have state of the art facilities. I will be
calling a general meeting to outline some plans and will be seeking your
support to progress. I have no doubt if we work together and support agreed
ideas we can progress. Leadership is about setting future strategies that
stretch everyone to progress to, and all together we will get there. Until then
lets enjoy our achievements year to date and look forward to more in next six
months…but remember

…………………….What you do is far greater than what you say….
