U13: Turloughmore go down to Ballygar 23-06-2012
21June 2012
Ballygar 1-6 Turloughmore 1-4

Turloughmore lost to Ballygar in the second round of U13 championship in Ballygar on Thursday evening. Turloughmore led by 0-3 to 0-2 after 9 minutes, with Tiernan Collins shooting the pick of the points.

Ballygar struck for an unanswered 1-3 in the final 11 minutes of the half to build a 1-5 to 0-3 half time lead. Indeed, Turloughmore would go on to rue a number of missed scoring opportunities, especially in the opening quarter of the game.

The sides swopped points in the third quarter to leave Ballygar 1-6 to 0-4 ahead and while Turloughmore exerted pressure, the packed Ballygar defence dealt with most of Turloughmore’s threat.

Four minutes from time Oisin Fahy was fouled for a Turloughmore penalty which Conor Walsh converted. However despite late pressure, Ballygar held on to win – a result which their performance and hunger deserved on the evening.

The team play their next game against Castlegar in Castlegar on next Monday evening June 25st.

Team: R McDonagh, R Dunleavy, J Burke, O Fahy, K Daly, K Conneely, S Lyons, T Collins (0-2; 0-1 65), D Loftus, J Morris, B Callanan, B Connolly, C Walsh (1-2, 1-0 pen, 2 frees), P Connolly, S Burke. Subs: D Mullen, K Wilde, K Keane.
