U13 A: Turloughmore win Opener 19-06-2012


Turloughmore 3-8 Kilnadeema/Leitrim 2-6

Turloughmore opened their U13 A championship campaign with a hard earned victory over Kilnadeema Leitrim in Lackagh on Monday evening. With 9 minutes left the sides were level at 2-6 apiece after Karl Conneely equalised for Turloughmore. The home side finished strongly with Tiernan Collis setting up Shane Burke for a goal and Sean Lyons and Conor Walsh adding points to seal a 5 point win.

The visitors had breeze advantage in the opening half, but Turloughmore led by 2-4 to 0-4 with 5 minutes to the break, with Tiernan Collins, after a fine run, and Brion Connolly getting the goals. Goalie Ronan McDonagh made a fine save early in the half.

Kilnadeema Leitrim however struck for 2 late first half goals to go in level at 2-4 apiece at the break. Despite having breeze advantage in the second half, Turloughmore found it difficult to pull away and Kilnadeema Leitrim led by 1 with 10 minutes left before Turloughmore finished strongly to seal the win.

The team play their next game against Ballygar in Ballygar on Thursday evening, June 21st.
