Turloughmore advanced to the semi final of the U14 B championship when they overcame Gort in Carnmore on Bank Holiday Monday. Turloughmore got off to a good start and led by 2-1 to 1-0 on nine minutes and by 2-3 to 1-0 at the interval. Conor Walsh shot the two goals with Mark Fahy, who hurled well at centre back, Karl Conneely and Barry Callanan getting the points. Daniel Loftus in goal, Gearoid Linnane, Conor Campbell, Barry Goldrick and Dylan Connell all caught the eye in a good all round team performance.
Gort got the opening two points of the second half, but Turloughmore shot three goals in three minutes to lead by 5-4 to 1-2 at the three quarters stage. Cathal Holland, with a fine effort, Callum Quinn and Barry Callinan got the goals, while points from Barry Callanan, Conor Walsh (2) and Mark Fahy left Turloughmore 5-7 to 1-4 ahead at the long whistle. Turloughmore now meet a fancied Tynagh Abbey Duniry side in the semi-final.
