Minors lose out to Athenry

Athenry 2-11 Turloughmore 0-12

Two late goals saw Athenry come from behind to snatch victory in the Minor A clash in Carnmore on Saturday.  Turloughmore were one up with two minutes left but Athenry’s late burst proved the difference. This defeat puts Turloughmore into the Shield, while Athenry qualify for the quarter finals.

A youthful Turloughmore side led by 0-9 to 0-4 at the interval and by 0-11 to 0-6 on 43 minutes but gradually Athenry closed the gap as both sides were left to rue a host of missed chances.

Turloughmore: Ronan McDonagh, James Burke, James Murphy, Caemgen Cummins, Gearoid Linnane, Karl Conneely, Sean Lyons, Daniel Loftus 0-2, Brion Connolly, Barry Callanan 0-1, Mark Fahy, Diarmuid Mullen, Mark McGrath, Jason Reilly 0-1, Conor Walsh 0-8. Subs used: Jack Glynn, Ollie Delaney, Matthew Lyons
