A five point win for Turloughmore over Micheal Breathnachs.

Turloughmore Junior A team travelled to Barna na Forbacha on Friday evening. The team were up against Micheal Breathnachs who like Turloughmore had one win on the board after they overcame Sarsfields, Turloughmore having defeated St Thomas’s.  Micheal Breathnachs started the strongest after a string of points before a free by David Mc Donagh got Turlough on the scoresheet. The teams were exchanging point for point with scores for Turlough coming from Danny Burke and Sean Collins before Micheal Breathnachs got a goal. Turlough hit back with a goal from Paul Kearns and points from David McDonagh and Cormac Whelan. Micheal Breathnacs hit a few more points before ref Paul Fahy blew the half time whistle. Turlough were five points down at half time.  The half time score was Turloughmore 1.4 Micheal Breathnachs 1.9.

At half time Turloughmore made a change that saw Joe Hession come on for Conor Phillips, Joe going into goal with Mark Fahy moving to the half forward line. Turloughmore started the second half the strongest and quickly catching up to the Micheal Breathnacs half time lead  with points from David Mc Donagh before Cormac Whelan scored his first goal.  Mark Fahy then added to the Turloughmore tally and Micheal Breathnachs were left fighting to hold to their lead. Further points from Cillian Hurney and David McDonagh saw Turloughmore level with Micheal Breathnachs. Turloughmore then took the lead through a goal by Cormac Whelan and Cormac then added to his tally with a few points also. Micheal Breathnachs did not give up and added a few more points. Cormac Whelan scored his third goal and Turlough were in the lead before a Micheal Breathnachs player was brought down in the square which resulted in a penalty. Micheal Breathnachs scored the penalty which meant there was four points between the teams before David McDonagh scored a point which was to be the last bit of play as Paul Fahy blew the full time whistle after the puck out.

Turloughmore had seven different scorers on the evening and all players showed great determination and effort to come from five points down at half time to win by five points in the end.
