North Galway U17 Qualify for Semi Final 06-06-2016

North Galway qualified for the semi-finals of the Celtic Challenge Division 1 Under-17 hurling tournament by virtue of a 1-17 to 1-11 victory over Dublin Pearse at Portlaoise yesterday.                                                        

The sides were level at 1-6 apiece at half time with Barry Callanan the North Galway goalscorer. Their first half points came from Conor Fahey (5) and Sean Bleahene. By the end of the third quarter Dublin Pearse had established a 1-11 to 1-9 lead before scores from the excellent Sean Lyons and Conor Fahey levelled the sides after 54 minutes.

North Galway finished strongly with the impressive Conor Fahey, Barry Callanan, Martin Cullen and Karl Conneely hitting late scores as they secured a six point victory.    


The semi- final draw takes place on Tuesday morning with North Galway's opponents being either South Kilkenny, Offaly or Down.  


Scorers: Conor Fahey (0-11, 0-5 frees, 0-1 sixty five, 0-5 play), Barry Callanan (1-2), Sean Lyons (0-1), Sean Bleahene (0-1 free), Karl Conneely (0-1), Martin Cullen (0-1).
