Suir Engineering Waterford  0-20, Safety Direct Galway 0-12

It was a disappointing day for the men from Safety Direct against a strong Suir Engineering team from Waterford in the All-Ireland Junior inter firms Hurling final held in O' Loughlin Gaels pitch, Kilkenny on Saturday last.

A strong Turloughmore contingent was involved with the Galway outfit namely Cian Morris, Philip Doyle, Sean Linnane, Sean Loftus, Conor Feeney, Conor Shaughnessy, Vincent Doyle and Richard Doyle.

The Galway men lined out without Vincent and Richard Doyle (both injured) on the day and despite these absentees, started the game strongly by racing into a 0-6 to 0-2 lead after 20 mins. Suir Engineering began to get to grips with the occasion in the second quarter and started to score more freely. Safety Direct only registered one further point in the first half whilst Suir Engineering latched on 6 further points to go in leading 0-8 to 0-6 at half time.

Suir engineering started the second half where the left off and got the first two scores to lead 0-10 to 0-7 after 35 mins. The sides then traded scores with the Waterford men stretching to a four point lead by the 41st minute, 0-12 to 0-9.

Midway through the second half, Safety Direct withheld a sustained period of pressure from Suir and commenced a mini revival by scoring two points in a row to leave the minimum between the two teams 0-12 to 0-11. However, the revival was short-lived with the Galway men only registering one further point to the remainder of the game whilst Suir Engineering latched on 9 further points to run out 0-20 to 0-12 winners.
